The perfect cocktails for a murder mystery night

We love a cocktail or two with a murder mystery and some of our favourites have the most apt names so we reckon these are the perfect cocktails for a murder mystery night.

Death In The Afternoon
It’s beautifully named for one of our afternoon tea and a mystery events but you could down it at any of our murder mystery events in the North East! It should be elegantly served in a champagne flute too.
To make it at home you need
5oz champagne
1oz pastis
Simply pour in the pastis and then top with the champagne.

Black Widow
There are some that would tell you this cocktail is perfect to drink at our Murder And Sparkling Wine murder mystery but you’ll have to come along to tell us if you think that’s right! This is a coffee flavoured cocktail to be poured over a third of a glass of crushed ice.
To make it you need
1 measure of white rum
1 measure of Kahlua

Crime of Passion
You might find one or two of our shady characters bumped off as a result of a crime of passion in our murder mystery events in the North East so it’s fitting to add the cocktail recipe here.
You need
1 measure of dark rum
1 measure of passion fruit juice
2 tablespoons of vanilla ice cream
1/3 measure of raspberry syrup
3 measures of cream soda

Hammer Horror
For anyone of a certain age (and that includes me) we had to include this one. Hammer Horror is another cocktail with a coffee flavour. Toast the masters of Hammer Horror such as Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing as you down this one.
To make it you need
1 measure of vodka
1 measure of Kahlua
4 tablespoons of vanilla ice cream

The Lady Killer
This is one of my favourites – I do like a fruity cocktail especiallyThe perfect cocktails for a murder mystery night where Cointreau is involved – and the name fits our murder mysteries perfectly too. The Lady Killer has a passion fruit flavour. Serve it over ice and with slices of orange and pineapple for a garnish.
To make it you will need
1 measure of gin
¾ measure of apricot brandy
¾ measure of Cointreau
2 measures of passion fruit juice
2 measures of pineapple juice.

Of course I could have included the Merry Widow, the Exterminator and may be the Knockout Punch (there is an awful of lot alcohol in that one!) but I’m not a big fan of green and herb flavoured cocktails. So there are a lot more cocktails out there to choose from when you come to one of our murder mysteries in the North East but these are my choices and maybe you’d like to try some.
If you’ve got another favourite that you think should be on our list of the perfect cocktails for a murder mystery night let me know – I just might try it!
