From murder mysteries, a reality star, and an award, 2023 has been busy at Tall Tales Mysteries.

As the new year beckons, it’s time to look back on our favourite moments from 2023.

From performing further afield in locations such as London and North Wales, to welcoming Amanda Lovett from hit BBC One show The Traitors, it’s been a very busy year.

An award-winning business

We are now officially an award-winning business! We had a great time at the Teesdale Business Awards at The Witham in Barnard Castle in November. We’re over the moon to have scooped up an award for Best Business Trading Outisde of Teesdale.

Expanding our reach

Although we still perform predominantly in the North East of England and online, we now have three teams of actors. One team performs in Northumberland and Tyneside, one team performs in Yorkshire, and our central team covers Darlington, County Durham, Teesside, and North Yorkshire. This means we have expanded our reach and we love that we can bring a show to anywhere in the UK.

A new regular venue

A new regular venue for 2023 has been Bloom in Middlesbrough, a fun cabaret bar hosting a variety of entertainment nights throughout the year. Our first show here was Murder Without A Clue in June and following two successful Christmas shows, we’re looking forward to two performances of A Midwinter Murder here in January, one of which still has tickets left. Grab them here.

Collaborating with a reality star

As our writer and business-owner, Sara West, was obsessed with The Traitors when it premièred in November 2022, she knew she wanted to write a show inspired by the series. We then began working with Amanda Lovett, a series-favourite. A Traitor Among Us got its début at Holiday Inn Newcastle-Gosforth in September of this year. We’re next performing this on Friday, 26th January at Hall Garth Hotel in Darlington. Go here for tickets.

Breakfast with Santa

Our first non-mystery event was the weekend before Christmas when we teamed up with The Curious Mr Fox in Durham for Breakfast with Santa. Children and their grown-ups met Santa and a Christmas Fairy for songs, stories, presents, and of course breakfast. It was a great success and we hope to team up with the venue again in 2024.

Keep an eye on our social media for regular updates on events in 2024. We won’t give away any spoilers just yet, but there will be plenty of murders and plenty of non-murder mystery events too.

Happy new year from everyone at Tall Tales Mysteries and here’s to a fabulous 2024!
