It’s one of those questions I’m asked a lot – do we have to get involved or do you just perform around the guests at a murder mystery dinner?
I think it’s the one thing that people who have never been to a murder mystery night at a public event, such as a hotel, worry about and it’s maybe the one thing that puts people off going, particularly if one friend or partner wants to go and the other isn’t so sure.
Let me put your mind at rest, you only have to get involved as much or as little as you choose.
We always start by mingling with our guests as they arrive so we’ll get to know you and you’ll get to know who our suspects are.
From then, over what is usually a three course meal, we perform between the courses and this is where you can get as involved as much or as little as you want. Our suspects come to the tables to answer questions. At this point it’s up to you if you want to ask questions. You might have a burning question that no one else has asked that you can’t leave unanswered or you may just want to sit back, enjoy the food and the performance and let others work out whodunit.
We’ll never push you to ask a question or do anything else you don’t want to so don’t worry if you really don’t think you’ll want to ask a question or join in – we completely understand.
There are some nights that are completely different to our actor-led murder mystery dinners. We call these our Joinin Whodunits where we encourage six volunteers to play the parts of the suspects, reading from scripts and answering questions just as our actors do.
However, you would always know that that is the style of murder mystery dinner that you are opting for as we make that very clear in our description of the events. And organisers of a Joinin Whodunit usually ask for volunteers early on so even if you were to book one of those events you wouldn’t need to get involved.
